Hospitalist (multiple openings at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV) Provide clinical care services to patients. Hospitalist is Internal Medicine and will treat adults. In addition to providing clinical care services to patients, the Hospitalist will also perform the following duties:
- Provide acute care to patients in the hospital setting;
- Manage the entire course of care through the hospital stay, recommending and creating specific treatment plans and coordinating and consulting with specialists as needed;
- Admit patients from the emergency department and for other consulting services and following their care during the hospital stay;
- Order studies, tests, and ancillary services and reviews results of such tests;
- Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate;
- Document all services in patient medical record;
- Remain in close contact with patients’ primary care physician and other related providers, updating as needed on status and creating recovery plans for patients upon discharge;
- Communicate directly with patients to answer questions and address concerns;
- Effectively communicate with advanced practice providers, nurses and other staff involved with patient care to in order to provide optimum care for patients;
- Respond to any emergent codes for patients on hospitalist service;
- Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and other patient care programs.
Requirements: MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent. Completion of Residency in Internal Medicine. Full and unrestricted West Virginia Medical License at the time of employment.
